The town regatta is taking place on Sunday in Dover.  I had been informed that this would have no impact on our training and I was informed just today that it would.  The swim zone will be suspended to allow for various water based activities to take place.  I checked whether it's the whole harbour and the whole day and it seems that we're out of luck.

I have been assured that comms will be better for next year.

We can't use Hythe as Sundays are their club day and the water will be busy with yachts and boats of all descriptions, so not safe for us.

Ramsgate is the next best option.  Please see details below for further information about the location.

Car Parking

There is car parking on Marine Esplinade in a fee paying car park, or you can park up on the cliff top for free.  If you park on the cliff top you come down the multicoloured steps shown in the third photo above to access the beach.
 

Where we'll meet

Base camp will be right in the middle of the swim zone that we'll use.  Please meet in front of the blue kiosk (see second photo).  We will swim to the harbour wall in one direction and we'll give you a reasonable distance in the other direction.
 

Hazards

This is a normal public beach which has paddlers which will generally be at the end by the main kiosks.  Jet skiers etc are at the very far end of the beach and we will make sure that you don't venture that far.
 

Conditions

Like Hythe, Ramsgate will give you the opportunity to check out the channel from a different perspective.  Like Hythe it has tides which you tend not to notice in Dover.
