The swim zone will be suspended for the day on Sunday 26th August due to the Dover Town Regatta. We need to be clear of the water by 8.30am.
To accommodate this we will be starting at 4am.
If you haven't had the opportunity to practice swimming in the dark this is an ideal opportunity. It's also good to practice starting so early in the morning so that you know what it will be like on the big day - getting breakfast at silly o'clock, applying suncream in the dark etc.
Sunrise is approximately 6am, so there will be a period of time where it is fully dark, unlike the last time we started early when it was just starting to get light as we got in the water. It won't be dark for the full 2 hours before sunrise though as it will start to get light before the sun appears above the horizon.
If you really don't fancy 4am, we will offer a 6am start for those of you who prefer and don't need to swim any longer than 2 hours.
You will be required to wear two electronic light sticks. If you have a tow float, another idea for visibility is to put a lightstick inside.
We will put light sticks on the buoys and the swim zone will be substantially reduced during the hours of the darkness. We aim to put a kayak in the water as well.
It is quite likely that normal parking will be blocked off. I suspect that the closest that you will be able to park is behind the green. Alternatively, you should be able to park in the new St James square car park.
There will be no training during the normal hours of training.
Please ask if you have any questions.
