If you want to experience a night swim, this is for you. In order to be eligible for this I would need to be sure that you have already completed an assessment swim. That means you will have either swum with us before in a previous season or on the first weekend of this season. Alternatively, be in a position to provide me with evidence of your open water competency.
Additional requirements
We will set a shorter circuit for this swim and we will have a kayak on the water to ensure that we can see all swimmers all of the time. You will be asked to give your number in to the kayaker on each loop.
You will be required to wear two guardian lights - one flashing on your goggle straps and one set to solid light on the back of your costume. These can be purchased, in advance, on the shop on this site or via Amazon or other retailers. No lights, no swim. It would be helpful if you could avoid red guardian lights as we will use this colour to illuminate some of the buoys and it can be a bit confusing if swimmers are also wearing them!
This swim is more weather dependant than the day time swims for safety reasons. We hope not to cancel, but we will if we can’t maintain safety. If we have to cancel you will be entitled to a full refund.
Safety briefing
Please come back to this page to read the safety briefing a day or two ahead of your booked swim. It will be here once the weather forecast has been reviewed.
COVID-19 Adaptations
Some guidelines to keep us all safe:
Please arrive already in your swimsuit so that all you need to do lose your outer clothing.
Once changed, please place your bag near others (not touching) to minimise the space that we take up on the beach.
If you want to wear crocs (other brands are available!) to the water’s edge, please ensure they are:
Uniquely identifiable
OK to be placed in a bucket of disinfectant
We won’t be able to help with suncream or vaseline I’m afraid. Please ensure you get someone from your household to help with suncream before you leave home or get a sponge on a stick for those hard to reach places. For vaseline, if you feel you need it, bring your own tub and a glove (to avoid getting grease on your goggles)
We’ll be signing in and out on an iPad
We won’t be able to provide physical assistance, so please don’t extend yourself beyond your known capabilities
The volunteers will be wearing PPE (apron, gloves, face covering) and will be sanitising everything required. We’re doing this to keep you safe. Please return the favour by wearing a face covering when you arrive.
If you, or a member of your household, have had COVID-19 symptoms in the last 14 days, or if you have been told to self-isolate, do not attend.
We will be checking temperatures on arrival. If you have a temperature of 37.8C or above you will be asked to go home. I’d suggest checking your own temperature before you leave to avoid disappointment.
