Night swim (early edition)

  • Dover Channel Training Marine Parade Dover, CT16 United Kingdom (map)

Most people swim in the dark at some point in the swim and it’s useful to experience this in training first so that you can learn that it can actually be a lot of fun. We won’t be replicating swimming next to a boat, but you will have the experience of getting in the water and swimming in the dark.

With this early start it can be a pretty good replication of an early starting swim and you’ll have the chance to swim into the sunrise and beyond. Beautiful!

Time quoted is time in the water. Please arrive early to register and understand the swim zone.

Additional safety measures:

  • The swim zone will be restricted to a square in front of the beach during the hours of darkness.

  • You will be required to wear two green adventure lights (please purchase in advance), chemical lightsticks are not sufficient. With the adventure lights we can see you from the beach.

  • Our two DCT inflatable and lit up buoys will be in the harbour to aid your navigation

  • The static buoys will also have lights on them

  • Our kayak will be on the water and will be lit. You will need to give your number in on each circuit.

  • No new swimmers on this session as we can’t do swim assessments in the dark.

  • We may need to alter the course towards the end of the session as the BLDSA rib launches to set up their course.

PLEASE NOTE, THIS SESSION IS WEATHER DEPENDENT. IF WE CAN’T SAFELY LAUNCH THE KAYAK, YOU CAN’T SAFELY SWIM.

Booking link below and also a link to buy lights if you don’t already have them.

Buy your lights here. You can arrange for collection at the beach or postage to your address.
