IMPORTANT - CHANGE OF TRAINING TIME
There are many variables on a channel swim. We've thrown a few at you in training already, like variable conditions, waiting 2 hours for a feed, new locations etc.
However, unlike marathons and triathlons and other races, channel solos or relays don't respect planning, especially not when it comes to start times. It won't always start nicely at 9am or even when it's light. You will probably start in the early hours in the dark, or swim into the dark. It's an unusual and special swim that is entirely in daylight.
So, let's mix it up again. When better to do it than the day after the mental preparation seminar. Join us for a swim into the sunrise.
If you're joining us for the first time, it would be helpful if you can do your paperwork online in advance or on the Saturday or even at the seminar the night before so that we're not sorting it in the dark on the beach at silly o'clock.
Details
Date: Sunday 18th June 2017
Start time: 4am (arrive a bit before to be in the water on time)
Location: Swimmers' beach, Dover Harbour
It's important that anyone wanting to swim is wearing lights. If you haven't yet bought your lights, you can pre-order on the website and they will be ready for you, or buy on the beach.
Each light is £10. On your big swim you will need 2 lights. Relay teams should have 2 sets of lights (2 for the swimmer in the water and 2 for the next one in).
You will need at least one light for this swim.
The batteries last long enough for this training swim and the big day!
If you don't want to join in the fun you can start at 8am and swim a maximum of 2 hours. No other start times will be supported.
The really good news - you get to go back to your hotel and check out after the swim and still have the day left to yourselves!!
Or chill out on the beach and watch the rowing regatta with a takeaway breakfast and drink.
